ABOUT ME

As long as I can remember I have always had a strong connection to contemporary and historical social issues, and a drive to educate and connect others in the same way.

During my time at 6th form I had the opportunity to become a holocaust education trust ambassador, following a visit to Auschwitz. As part of this program, I took the opportunity to create learning resources for my school’s library, as well as creating a design proposal for an exhibition in my local museum as part of my a-level in graphic communications. In this project I undertook in depth research around events that took place during the holocaust that are not commonly discussed.

During the same time, I volunteered with the Portable Antiquities Scheme assisting with the cataloguing of local archaeological finds. This gave me first-hand experience in identifying and recording artifacts and using that information to build a picture that help us to better understand the significance of the events of the past.

Throughout my undergraduate degree I have designed and developed several different exhibitions on a variety of topics from the curation of an interactive gastronomic experience to an immersive exhibition designed to illustrate the causes and effects that the Tohoku Tsunami had on Japan and its population. My final major project proposal is to create an exhibition for the Museum of Liverpool that educates on the discrimination faced by indigenous peoples around the world with a focus on the effects on Eurocentric colonialism on the indigenous population of North America and Australasia . As part of this project, I have completed research into the causes and affects of discrimination on indigenous groups, the interconnected relationship between indigenous people and the conservation of natural resources, and the issues of decolonisation of museums in Britain.

My goal when creating exhibition spaces is to create an environment that is inclusive in its design and allows people to connect with contemporary and historical social issues. From this course I hope to gain valuable knowledge and experience in the issues that are present in the modern-day museum as well as a greater understanding in the development of an exhibition which is ethical and correctly portrays the narrative of its subject.

My recent achievements include being winning first place for digital visualisation in the elemental design competition, winning the British institute of interior design student challenge and placing 2nd at the HiB innovative bathroom design competition.
