Harbourne Retirement Apartment
The focus for this apartment was to create an art deco inspired interior, this is both elegant and accessible for elderly and retired people.
The brass accents, statement floors and deep, rich colour pallet are typical for a 1920’s interior, the interior also features statement elements such as an original 1930s fireplace and wall panelling in the living room as well as a mirrored wall in the bedroom and statement lighting.
To create an environment that is accessible for wheelchair users and visually impaired residents I selected hard wood and tiled flooring. In addition I selected extra-large doors so wheelchairs can roll around freely. I also opted for a walk in shower, which is not only wheelchair friendly, but friendly to all ages.
