Idō Japanese Restaurant

For this project I put the focus on designing an experimental Japanese restaurant inspired by traditional Japanese Izakaya’s. Izakaya typically serve a range of alcoholic drinks and snacks which are prepared by highly skilled chefs. The food served at Idō is designed to confuse your senses and utilise several culinary techniques to alter the form of many traditional Japanese dishes.

The dining experience is enhanced by the 3 different dining areas which each serve unique dishes. these dishes can be prepared while you are seated at the bars or can be brought directly to your able by waiters. The intimate nature of the 3 dining areas allow for conversation to form between other guests as well as the chefs. The creation of dishes often involves a theatrical element.
