Sonus Pavilion Of Humanity
The inspiration behind this project was the interconnected relationship between sound and society. This relationship is reflected through the contours of the structure and its surroundings.
The use of music to connect people can be dated back around 40,000 years ago as a use of communication before the development of language, to this day music is still used to connect people from every region of the world regardless of language, culture or physical ability.
The form of the pavilion is an illustration of sound waves, in addition when the pavilion is viewed from the walk way towards the entrance, the form mimics the peaks surrounding it, this is further amplified by the use of concrete in the sloping roofs.
Crummock water has a no motorised boat policy to help protect the natural environment and to maintain a feeling of serenity for the visitors, therefore the choice is made to use glass on the lake side, which reflects the surroundings helping the pavilion blend into its environment when is viewed from the lake.
The exhibition halls provide a unique and dynamic way to show the accomplishments of humanity though a range of mediums. the glass facade allows for a panoramic view of the lake and its surroundings
