The Secret Gardens Cafe

The inspiration for the secret gardens cafe and restaurant is to create an environment that is reminiscent of the rise in popularity of green house architecture during the late 19th century. The medicinal value of green house and spas in Victorian Britain inspired the use of several different plants that are attributed to better air quality, a factor that remain important due to the recent corona virus pandemic. Breconshire was a popular destination for wealthy Victorians and continues to be a popular holiday destination.

The use of trellis systems to create partitions between tables gives quests a feeling of privacy and the restaurant features outside garden seating areas and a food pick up area that can be used to serve customers during covid- 19.

The George Hotel is situated in Brecon and is 6.2 miles from the Brecon beacons national park. The hotel is a Grade II listed property in the Houses of Breconshire, as a former house built towards the end of the 17th century. In the 1860’s the property was referred to as the George Inn, however it is marked as the George Hotel in 1888.
